| Schools - Wildside Overnights |
|
Our standard Wildside Overnight has a similar format to the “Wild Nights Out” formerly run by Devon Outdoor Learning (Devon Discovery). Suitable for pupils from Year 3 upwards, we will tailor the programme to suit your requests and timings.
A standard experience begins at 5pm with introductory games and nature activities in the woods before setting up camp. Activities continue after the evening meal until very late at night, concluding with a captivating story and hot chocolate around the campfire. The next day begins with a dawn walk and “quiet spots” before breakfast, and activities continue until departure at 11am. Pupils are engaged at all times and they usually sleep well at night - albeit for just a few hours until they're gently woken up again! The food is good quality, organic/fair trade and locally sourced when possible. We provide all food, tents, sleeping mats and field equipment.
Our site is very suitable for the Wildside Overnights, with a secluded camping area and varied wild habitats for the nature activities. It is very peaceful, and the stars at night can be spectacular! We will send you our kit list, consent form and a letter to parents that you can adapt, also full risk assessments and any other documentation that you may require. We are registered with Devon and Somerset as approved providers for school educational visits. |

Testimonials:
The children have had an amazing experience of the natural world that they will remember into adulthood.
(A. Somerwill, Headteacher, Kenton Primary School)
An excellent experience for all of the children and adults. The children have learned valuable social and team building skills.
(L. Phillips, teacher, St Peter's School, Budleigh Salterton)
From start to finish the trip was an unqualified success. The activities were highly suitable and engaged the children throughout whilst giving them a unique and at times challenging experience. At all times the children were safe and this security enabled them to perform beyond their comfort zone and for the staff to feel absolutely confident to step back and observe the children's development and enjoyment. There is nothing we could fault about the organisation and delivery of the experience.
(A. Gittins, teacher, the CFF)
A very valuable experience for a challenging group of children. Apart from very poor listening skills the group was much more united than I have ever seen them. I had a fantastic time, largely due to the well organised and incredibly engaging activities, but also being able to see the children in a different environment that brought out the best in their characters.
(A. Mullaney, teacher, St David's Primary)
I think this is the best day I've ever had, actually.
(Ben, Year 4 pupil, Ladysmith Primary School)
This is the best thing I've ever done.
(Cameron, Year 3 pupil, Wilcombe Primary School)
